The article written by Heba Hashem, titled “Can solar power produce freshwater in the Middle East?”, combines information provided by three interviews. One of these interviews was with our very own Manoj Divakaran, founder director of Empereal, who provided valuable insight into CSP (Concentrated Solar Power).
“One of the most important advantages learnt from our long experience in India is that CSP technologies can become a decentralised source of power for water generation,” explains Manoj, as he covers topics ranging from the challenges of CSP, such as its intermittency, to the potential of CSP when combined with MED or RO (Reverse Osmosis).
Alongside interviews with Karen Stummeyer, the deputy head of desalination at Fichtner, and Dr Ibrahim Altisan, the general manager at Saudi Arabia’s Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), the article provides a wealth of information regarding CSP and its current market in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region.
